DE PERE, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – No one was injured after an overnight fire in De Pere. It broke out around 2 a.m. on the corner of Oak Street and Eighth Street.
A passerby noticed smoke and called the fire in.
A police officer was able to get the only occupant out of the home who was sleeping at the time.
Alan Matzke, De Pere Fire Chief, tells FOX 11….
“Law enforcement attempted to wake up anybody inside the house and found one single occupant on the first floor of the house. The occupant was asleep on the first floor. The fire was on the second floor of the home. The law enforcement officer was quick-thinking enough to assist that resident out of the home, so everyone was out of the home by the time the fire department arrived.”
Officials don’t know what caused the fire.
