APPLETON, WI (WTAQ) – They say the world is a stage, but Lawrence University is trying a new stage, a swimming pool.
Gabriel Forestieri is the creator and choreographer of the performance in the water, “Breathe”
More than 20 performers are in the cast, including students, athletes, professional dancers, and even a diver. Margaret Paek, instructor of dance at Lawrence says this is rare.
“He is a free diver as well and he has been experimenting with dancing under water, and I don’t think many people do it.”
She says it is unlike other performances that they have had.
“The audience comes in and can move anywhere.”
Paek says there is a lot going on in different areas.
The “Breathe” water opera at Lawrence University’s Wellness Center pool is sold out on both tonight and tomorrow night, but organizers say you may want to check with the Lawrence Box Office to see if anyone cancelled their reservations.
“It is an experience that they have never had and probably will never have again.”
