GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – A number of area businesses and organizations are aiming to ensure that Brown County is more aware of dementia.
More than 80 locations are now Purple Angel Trained, which is a free, on-site 30-minute training that includes dementia basics specific to the business and organization type.
The goal is for the Brown County Dementia Friendly Community Coalition’s Purple Angel Initiative to make the county a better, safer, and more welcoming place to live for people with dementia and their caregivers.
Following the training, employees are educated to serve and welcome those with dementia and their caregivers.
“If there’s one thing worse than Alzheimer’s, its ignorance of the disease,” says former Wisconsin governor, Martin Schreiber.
Up to 14,000 people may be living with Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia in Brown County.
