ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – A popular destination in the stadium district is growing. Stadium View is putting on an addition that will include a second level.
“They’re going to be getting that much better of a view since we are Stadium View,” said Bob Watson, owner of Stadium View.
In three weeks, construction will begin on the project, which Watson tells FOX 11 they’ve been talking about for years.
“It’s going to be a 12 month out of the year space versus just an outdoor bar, which it currently is.”
A 2,313-foot indoor bar area is being put on the first level, with a 2,982 square foot space going above it. That level will include a party deck. Both levels will have overhead doors to open during the warm months.
“We’re trying to design it so it’s comfortable so that it’s unique to the area and also has a great view of the stadium,” said Mark Ihlenfeldt of MJI Building Services, which is the contractor for the project.
In 2015, Jerry Watson first told FOX 11 of the plan for the second story. It was put on hold so the restaurant could first upgrade its banquet and bar areas.
Jerry Watson passed away four months ago. Now, Bob is making sure the family plan becomes a reality.
“I would really hope that he would be smiling. I would hope that he would maybe give me a kick in the butt and say why didn’t we do it any sooner.”
Watson is making up for lost time with an aggressive construction plan. The goal is to have the first level addition done for the June 8th Paul McCartney concert at Lambeau Field and the entire project done by mid-July.
“It’s a very aggressive schedule, but our builders can pull it off. We anticipate constant growth and there is a lot of great opportunity in the area and we’re hoping to capitalize on it.”
Both levels will mostly be for public use, but there will be opportunities for occasional rentals too.
A new entrance is also being put in for the banquet hall, and the bar’s outdoor areas are being revamped with fire pits, bean bag games, and lounge areas.
Ashwaubenon’s Village Board approved the plans Tuesday evening.
