UNDATED (WSAU) – State elections officials say the recount of the state’s presidential election has proceeded without any major problems. The Wisconsin Elections Commission has uploaded the results of the recount online every day since it started on December 1st. Monday’s update shows that Donald Trump had a net gain of 84 votes. Hillary Clinton had a net gain of 58 votes. The result is that Trump’s lead has grown slightly larger than first reported on election night. Trump won the state by about 22,000 votes.
Larger counties like Milwaukee and Dane have reported only partial results through five days of counting. Hillary Clinton has gained only 3 votes from the partial results reported so far in Dane County. The Milwaukee County totals reported so far have not resulted in a change in the overall tally.
Green Party candidate Jill Stein paid $3.5-million to administer the recount. County clerks have been told to have their counts completed by Monday, December 12. The election officials expect to certify the recount the next day.
The Electoral College meets on December 19.
