MILWAUKEE (WTAQ) – Criminal cases are moving quickly for two of three Milwaukee men accused of firing bullets into a house by mistake, and killing a five-year-old girl.
Charges were filed just 10 days ago against 24-year-old Paul Farr and 20-year-old Carl Barrett Jr. Both have already pleaded not guilty after a judge said there was enough evidence to send both defendants to trial.
Barrett is charged with reckless homicide in last November’s bullet barrage that killed Laylah Peterson while she was sitting on her grandfather’s lap watching TV. Farr is charged with aiding a felon.
Both are due back in court November 16th, when their trial dates could be set.
Online court records also indicate that Farr wants the judge to review his $10,000 cash bond. Barrett is under a quarter-million dollar bond.
The third defendant, 23-year-old Arlis Gordon, is jailed in Illinois. He still faces extraditiona reckless homicide count.
A vigil is planned for November 6th to remember Laylah on the one-year anniversary of her death.
