NEW RICHMOND, Wis (WSAU-Wheeler News) Police in New Richmond say it might be a few weeks before a 37-year-old man returns to Wisconsin to face charges in the deaths of his ex-girlfriend and her daughter. Thirty-year-old Courtney Bradford and her 10-year-old daughter Jasmine were found dead Wednesday in their burning home.
Online court records show that Cristian Nunez has been charged in Saint Croix County with felony vehicle theft and identity theft. New Richmond Police Chief Mark Samelstad says a homicide investigation continues. Extradition proceedings have started to get Nunez back to western Wisconsin. The bodies of Bradford and her daughter were found on separate levels of the home, which was about 20-percent damaged by fire. Officials say the water was running in the basement.
Prosecutors say Nunez drove Bradford’s car to Iowa, and then flew to Texas where he used her credit card to pay for a hotel room. He was arrested in El Paso yesterday morning.
