UNDATED (WSAU-Wheeler News) The weather has warmed up, albeit briefly, in some parts of the state. That has the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources warning winter sports enthusiasts to watch out for unstable ice. The experts say it’s best to call a snowmobilers group, a bait shop or even a local fishing club before going out on the ice.
Temperatures were in the 30s last weekend in some areas of Wisconsin. That could affect the ice’s thickness – and safety. The state doesn’t monitor local conditions because of the large number of Wisconsin lakes and rivers.
