FITCHBURG, WI (MetroSource-WSAU) – Police say a rash of juvenile disturbances led to the early closing of the Fitchburg Days midway. Numerous disturbances were reported Friday evening at the festival. Two teen boys, a 15-year-old and a 16-year-old, were arrested and taken to the juvenile reception center. Citations were issued to at least two others teens. Police processed at least three battery complaints.
At one point all available officers from Fitchburg and the Town of Madison were called to the festival grounds at McKee Farms Park. Police said there were “a plethora of juvenile incidents” on Friday night, including pushing, shoving, and and large groups of young people taunting each other.
The festival was shut down early on Friday night, and the hours for the midway were limited on Saturday. The event, which ended Sunday afternoon, operated during normal hours that day.
It’s not clear what caused the disturbances.
