MOUNT PLEASANT, WI (WSAU) Foxconn Technology Group will hire construction workers within the next two months to begin work on its manufacturing complex in Mount Pleasant. The Taiwan-based company announced Wednesday that it has chosen M+W Gilbane, CH2M, and The Sigma Group as the lead contractors and designers for the project.
All three companies have strong Wisconsin ties.
“Together, these three companies form a great team, and they will serve as instrumental local partners as Foxconn starts the construction of our advanced display manufacturing campus and science and technology park,” said Louis Woo, Special Assistant to the Founder and CEO of Foxconn. “Each company has a track record of excellence and a commitment to quality that will help us take advantage of the talented and hard-working workforce in Wisconsin.”
Gilbane is one of Milwaukee’s largest builders. CH2M is the lead contractor for engineering and architecture work for the project. The Sigma Group is responsible for environmental consulting and permitting.
Also, Gateway Technical College in Kenosha is developing two new degree programs to train workers for Foxconn. The associate’s degree programs would also feed into other area manufacturing companies with similar high tech jobs. The Wisconsin Technical College System Board took the first step toward approving the programs Wednesday.
