GREEN BAY (WTAQ-WLUK) -Members of the Green Bay School District are considering re-assigning for a teacher at Aldo Leopold Community School after she was arrested on drug charges last month.
Bridget DaPra was arrested back in May on misdemeanor charges for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Her arrest followed the arrest of her husband Lucas DaPra, who was indicted by a federal grand jury for possession of child pornography, sexual exploitation of a child and distribution of child porn.
Those charges against Bridget DaPra were dropped on June 4 according to court documents, but the district said they are still considering her re-assignment.
“I love Aldo Leopold , I love the students there, I love the families there,” said DaPra. “When I learned what was happening in my personal life of course I felt bad for myself, I couldn’t even wrap my head around that. I felt bad for my children and how this would turn out, but I also felt bad for my students in those first hours and that they would feel abandoned,” she said.
Dapra made that plea to the board during a meeting Monday night, along with others, in favor of her keeping her current position.
“She is a wonderful teacher and friend. It would break my heart, it would break my children’s heart, and their friends if she didn’t come back to school,” said the parent of one of DaPra’s students.
During the meeting it was said that the district is looking to transfer DaPra to Tank Elementary. When FOX 11 reached out to the district to confirm, they declined to comment.
“This experience has been tragic, but the values that Aldo has we can get through this together,” said DaPra.
As for Lucas DaPra, online records indicate that a plea deal is being negotiated. If no deal is reached a trial is set to begin July 16th.
