MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Manitowoc police are looking into a suspicious item that a child reportedly stepped on at the city’s Aquatic Center.
They say they received a call Monday afternoon that earlier in the day, an 8-year-old boy’s foot was punctured by what could be a broken syringe.
Police Sgt Andrew Trilling tells Fox 11 they’re still trying to determine what the item was, but do not believe the pool or anyone is in any danger.
“We can’t identify it as being a full hypodermic needle or syringe, or something that someone would have used. They actually did an extra search both yesterday and today and they haven’t found anything else that would be of concern to anybody.”
Anyone who knows something about what may have happened, is being asked to contact Manitowoc police.
