STURGEON BAY (WTAQ) – A day of snow Monday in Door County brought a mix of work and fun.
The heavy snow in Eastern Wisconsin was frustrating for some, but not for all.
“I just got back from cross county skiing in Colorado, and we brought Colorado snow back with us, light and fluffy” Lucy Clampitt said as she was out snowshoeing in Fish Creek.
Jody Hoyerman of Ephraim took a break from shoveling to go for a jog.
“We love it, we enjoy it and we live up here year round so let it snow”
Door County reported up to 18 inches of snow in some areas. Municipal Services Director Bob Bordeau said crews were out most of the day and night.
“We have 11 crews that were out at 3 o’clock this morning, then we had the parking lots and alley crews come in a little later,” explained municipal services director, Bob Bordeau.
The sounds of shoveling were heard all throughout Eastern Wisconsin Monday as some of the area was hit with over a foot of snow. Jody Olson of Ellison Bay was out four hours Monday morning.
“It came a lot quickly, definitely they were saying 6 to 8 inches, but it was more like a foot, definitely accumulated quick.”
Many kids were around to help as multiple districts canceled school on Monday.
Municipal Services Director Bob Bordeau said the plows were scheduled to be out until the job was done.
