UNDATED (WSAU) – Former Milwaukee County Sheriff David Clarke is free to post again on Twitter after his account was briefly suspended. The shutdown came after Twitter received several complaints about his tweets threatening journalists who reported he was investigated last year by the FBI. No charges were filed in the case.
Clarke’s account was put into read-only mode until he deleted three tweets on Tuesday.
In his response, the former sheriff said the reaction shows that he’s winning because “some snowflake lib made a complaint.”
An FBI agent filed an application for a search warrant to review Clarke’s email account in March. News of the warrant became public two weeks ago. It involved a highly publicized exchange of words between Clarke and another man on an airplane last January. The Justice Department has since concluded that the man’s civil rights were not violated. A private lawsuit is still pending in the matter.
