TOWN OF LIMA, WI (MetroSource-WSAU) A grass fire in Pepin County is responsible for the death of one person. Authorities responded to the fire around 3pm Monday near Hayes Road near Durand in the Town of Lima.
The sheriff’s office says the fire destroyed a small barn, a tin outbuilding, and about two acres of grassland.
The cause of the fire isn’t known. The flames were fanned by windy conditions. The Durand City and Mondovi fire departments responded to the scene, assisted by Pepin County deputies and Durand Ambulance Service.
The victim’s name hasn’t been released. An autopsy will determine cause of death.
