GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – Green Bay Police is pretty happy with how things went during the 45-minute lightning delay during Thursday’s Packers-Bears game at Lambeau Field.
Captain John Laux says most fans followed instructions of waiting out the storm in the concourse area.
“Initially a lot of people kind of went up under the overhang, which actually allowed us to get everybody out, because it gets pretty congested when everybody’s leaving.”
Laux notes officers were among the fans who were packed into the concourse.
“It gets a little uncomfortable. People are already a little wet, a little upset because of the rain delay. (Officers) were just in there maintaining the peace.”
However, not everyone in the stadium followed the rules.
“Every once in awhile, someone gets something in them that they want to be on Lambeau Field. They want to touch where the players play. We actually had four make it on the field. We were able to arrest three. The other one disappeared into the crowd before we could get him.”
Laux notes there were seven arrests and 22 ejections. That’s the same number of arrests and one more ejection than the first two home games combined.
