MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) No charges will be filed against two West Allis police officers or a U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration agent in the shooting death of a Milwaukee man in March.
Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm says the officers were justified in shooting and killing 32-year-old Jermaine Claybrooks. He was shot after pointing a gun at one of the officers. The DA’s report says the officers “used deadly force to stop an imminent threat of great bodily harm or death.”
Claybrooks was wanted for dealing heroin and was known to police under the street name “Big Bro.” He sped off in a car when he realized officers were about to arrest him, crashed into a tree, and then pulled the gun before he was killed. He was shot 10 times.
After the shooting police approached the car and found a semi-automatic weapon in Claybooks’ hand. His did not follow officers’ demands to exit the vehicle.
A police report says 148 grams of heroin, 70 grams of marijuana, and 50 tablets of oxycodone were found inside the vehicle. Claybrooks was carrying $30,000 cash at the time.
