WAUKESHA, WI (WSAU) By her own admission to police, 23-year-old Abby Dominski knew she was too drunk to get behind the wheel after going to Monday’s Milwaukee Brewers game. She is now facing a charge of homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle for a drunk driving crash in the Town of Lisbon that killed 44-year-old Candace Franckowiak of Milwaukee.
Dominski was charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle yesterday and is being held on $100,000 bail in the Waukesha County Jail.
She told police after the crash it was her boyfriend’s fault for letting her drive after she got drunk at the ballgame.
She also told police, “I knew I shouldn’t be driving. I was too drunk to drive.” She and her boyfriend went to a bar after the game, where Dominski had three beers, a mixed drink, and a shot of vodka.
A police report says Dominski was traveling in the wrong direction on Highway 164 when she hit Franckowiak’s vehicle. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Another vehicle swerved to avoid Dominski and overturned, but that driver suffered only minor injuries.
