APPLETON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – After two and a half months of construction, a major intersection on Appleton’s north side has reopened — and it has a new look.
The intersection of Northland Avenue (Hwy. OO) and Richmond Street (Hwy. 47) now features a roundabout.
The intersection had been deemed the intersection with the most crashes in Appleton, based on data collected from 2014.
The project also included the addition of separate right-turn lanes on Mason Street at Northland Avenue, upgrading traffic signals at several area intersections and repaving a stretch of Northland Avenue.
The $3 million project was paid for by the federal Highway Safety Improvement Program.
The project was completed on schedule.
