NAVARINO, WI (WTAQ)- As warmer temperatures start to go away, so do the birds.
Many view that as a true sign of the start of winter cold, but others look at it as a chance to master a challenge.
Migration season is underway, that means many eyes will be on the skies in the next few weeks. Tim Ewing, Naturalist at the Navarino Nature Center says it is a special time of year for a group of people known as Birders.
While bird watching is a common occurrence, it has also become like a sport.
“You have the hunters that go out to try to get the animal that they want, and Birders simply go out to see how many different types of birds they can see in a given year.”
There are no winners or losers, but bird migration season means the bird watching game is on.
“Birders can get really really competitive, and some just have going out and watching for birds.”
Ewing says “Birding” is like hunting with your eyes. Many come out to the Navarino Nature Center to observe the migration.
With leaves starting to fall more often, bird watchers will have an easier time seeing the migration.
