MINNEAPOLIS, MN (WTAQ) – The Packers lost far more than just Sunday’s game in Minnesota.
Green Bay may have also lost its franchise quarterback for the rest of the season.
The team has confirmed that Aaron Rodgers suffered a broken collarbone when he was driven to the turf by Vikings’ linebacker Anthony Barr.
It happened on the Packers’ second drive of the game and resulted in number 12 being carted off the field.
Backup quarterback Brett Hundley played the rest of the game, finishing 18 of 33 for 157 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions.
Rodgers was 2 of 4 for 18 yards when the injury happened.
The Vikings opened the scoring early in the second quarter, courtesy of a 27-yard TD pass from Case Keenum to Jerick McKinnon.
Brett Hundley’s 14-yard scoring toss to Davante Adams leveled things a few minutes later.
McKinnon’s second score, a 3-yard TD run, restored Minnesota’s seven point edge midway through the second quarter.
A Mason Crosby field goal allowed Green Bay to go into the locker room down by just four points.
The Vikings tacked on nine more points in the second half, courtesy of three Kai Forbath field goals, bringing the final score to 23-10.
After an impressive performance in last week’s win at Dallas, rookie running back Aaron Jones struggled for the Packers, collecting just 41 yards on 13 carries.
Jordy Nelson led Green Bay with six catches for 60 yards. Adams hauled in five passes for 54 yards and the score.
Both teams sit at 4-2 on the season, with the Vikings atop the NFC North thanks to the head-to-head tiebreaker.
The Packers host New Orleans next Sunday. Minnesota hosts Baltimore.
