GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – More than 500 people were injured after the deadly shooting in Las Vegas and local hospitals have been taking a proactive approach in case a tragic event happens here.
Once a year hospitals in Green Bay work to exercise a massive casualty drill. As part of the drill college students play a role of someone who is injured.
HSHS St. Vincent chief nursing executive for the eastern Wisconsin division, Paula Hafeman tells FOX 11 there’s also plans in case the hospitals become full.
“We utilize our census management plan, which quite frequently since it gets high we have a plan on how we discharge patients and we have a room of where they set up for them to be in temporarily if they they transportation.”
The last mass causality drill was in August.
