BROWN COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – A wave of burglaries has hit the northwest part of Brown County the past couple of weeks.
Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Todd Delain says they’ve received a total of ten reports from Pittsfield, Suamico, Howard, and Hobart.
“During the three (overnight) non-residential burglaries, equipment such as generators, power saws, power washers, and other tools were stolen. However, during the seven residential, day burglaries, items that were taken were small, such as currency and jewelry.”
Delain believes the residential burglaries are related and the non-residential burglaries are related, but is unsure if they’re all related to each other.
He says they have ballpark figures on how much the victims lost.
“The residential burglaries were in that area of $1,000 worth of stuff. The overnight burglaries, some of those tools can be quite expensive, that would be in the thousands.”
Delain is asked if there were any crimes or any suspicious activity in the area prior to the first incident being reported on November 16.
“No, we don’t. We believe that this is relatively new. We think that this might be something that is occurring in other jurisdictions.”
Delain would not say if there are any suspects or persons of interest. However, he did confirm that they are looking into some evidence that they have retrieved.
The chief deputy encourages residents to pay attention to activity in their neighborhood and report any suspicious behavior.
Anyone with information on any of the ten burglaries is asked to call sheriff’s headquarters at 920-448-4213 or Green Bay Area CimeStoppers at 920-432-7867.
