UNDATED (WSAU) – Governor Walker is pleased with the deal he signed last week for Foxconn to build a massive plant in Racine County. Appearing on the talk show UpFront with Mike Gousha yesterday, the governor said the Taiwanese manufacturer will eventually do about $1.4-billion of business with Wisconsin-based companies.
Walker said, “Just the fact that a world class-class company could have gone to anywhere in the world, and picked Wisconsin, helps us make the case for bigger, smaller companies alike.” Walker said that he believes Foxconn will meet its hiring targets that are tied to $3-billion in state incentives. The company hopes to hire 13,000 workers by 2032. Walker also says public opinion about Foxconn will improve as critics “see the benefit to the economy overall.”
He was also asked about Roy Moore, a candidate for U.S. Senate in Alabama who is facing allegations of sexual misconduct. Walker said Moore should step down if the accusations against him are true.
