MANITOWOC, WI (WTAQ) – A 14-year-old driver is accused of leading officers on a chase that reached speeds around 115 miles per hour.
Manitowoc County Sheriff’s officials say a vehicle was reported missing from the 1200 block of South 13th Street in Manitowoc around 12:45 am Friday.
Shortly after, a deputy saw the vehicle northbound on North Rapids Road and tried to pull it over on Highway R.
The driver reportedly sped up and lost control near Novy Road in the Town of Gibson.
He then allegedly spun the vehicle around and stopped in the southbound lane of Highway R.
Officers say the driver tried to make a U-turn to keep going but went into a ditch and got stuck.
He was immediately arrested while the passenger, 17-year-old Aaron Booker of Manitowoc, reportedly fled on foot before being tracked down and taken into custody.
Charges recommended against the 14-year-old include Fleeing an Officer, Recklessly Endangering Safety, Operating Without the Owner’s Consent, Operating Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, Operating After Suspension, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Booker was arrested on a warrant tied to a prior vehicle theft case.
Officers are recommending charges of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
While no formal charges have been filed, Booker’s bond has been set at $1,250.
