The BMO Harris Bradley Center in Milwaukee is hosting a first round collection of regional games in the NCAA National Tournament and on Thursday, there was one upset among the four games played.
12th seeded Middle Tennessee State knocked off the 5th seeded Minnesota Gophers 81-72. Reggie Upshaw led the Blue Raiders with 19 points in their second consecutive first round surprise. Last year, Middle Tennessee shocked Michigan State as a 15 seed. They will now face 4th seeded Butler which advanced past Winthrop 76-64 behind Avery Woodson’s 18 points.
Purdue, 4th seeded in the Midwest Region, defeated number 13 Vermont 80-70 and Vincent Edwards dumped in 21 points. The Boilermakers will now face #5 seed Iowa State, an 84-73 winner over Nevada.
