NEENAH, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) – Winnebago County sheriff’s deputies and Neenah police responded just after 9:00 last night (Monday) to a pontoon boat that got stuck in the Neenah Dam.
Neenah police blocked the Oak Street bridge so authorities could get to the scene.
The sheriff said a 24-foot Crestliner pontoon boat was trying to retrieve an unmanned dinghy, but the current of the dam overpowered the boat’s motor.
Police say there were three people on the boat and all of them have been accounted for.
One man was able to pull himself out using a safety cable. The other two people were able to swim to shore and suffered minor injuries.
Neenah police say all three were taken to the hospital.
Crews remained on the scene for about 40 minutes.
The pontoon was actually stuck in the dam. The sheriff says the owner of the boat is making arrangements to have it removed.
