The Green Bay Phoenix seven game winning streak came to a screeching halt Monday night with an 80-56 loss to the Valparaiso Crusaders in Indiana.
Valpo put up a 17-0 run early in the second half to run away from the cold shooting Phoenix. Green Bay hit just 31% from the floor in falling to 11-7 on the season as they suffered their first loss in Horizon League play.
Valparaiso joined Green Bay at 5-1 atop the conference standings by getting 20 points and 12 rebounds from Horizon League pre-season player of the year Alec Peters.
Green Bay was led by Jamar Hurdle with 11 and Kerem Kanter with 10.
The Phoenix return home to face Youngstown State at the Resch Center on Friday night.
