WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The Marathon County Sheriff’s Department has charged a former employee with two felonies for having sexual contact with an inmate.
38-year-old Jennifer Kowalski was fired by the sheriff’s department on October 29th of 2015 once an investigation was started into possible misconduct. Kowalski is accused of performing oral sex on an inmate while he received medical care at Aspirus Wausau Hospital and she was guarding him.
Kowalski has been charged with second-degree sexual assault by a correctional staff and misconduct in office. The Everest Metro Police Department has been handling the investigation thus far. Prior to this incident, Kowalski had worked for the department for just over nine years.
In a press release, Sheriff Scott Parks said he would have no further comment at this time.
