Carlos Gomez really enjoyed playing for the Milwaukee Brewers, now he’s having fun beating the Brewers.
Gomez launched a go ahead three run home run off Tyler Thornberg in the bottom of the 8th inning to carry the Texas Rangers over the Brewers 8-5 in Arlington Wednesday night. It was second three run shot for the ex-Brewer All Star in the series. He went 7 for 12 in the three game set with two doubles and eight runs batted in.
Jonathan Villar hit the first pitch of the game off Cole Hamels for his 19th homer of the year but a 2-0 first inning lead was given right back by starter Chase Anderson. He was touched for three runs in the bottom of the first.
Milwaukee battled back to take a 5-3 lead before the Rangers rallied.
Corey Knebel took the loss allowing two unearned runs in the 8th before the Gomez bomb.
The Brewers (71-88) will travel Thursday and close the season with a three game series against the Colorado Rockies in Denver beginning Friday night.
