GERMANTOWN, WI (WSAU) Three people were injured when gasoline was thrown into a fire pit in Germantown. The resulting explosion cased second and third-degree burns over 40-percent of a 25-year-old woman’s body. The woman also suffered respiratory injuries. She’s in critical condition after being airlifted to the burn union at Columbia St. Mary’s hospital.
A second burn victim sought help at a nearby McDonalds. She also has burns over 40-percent of her body and was taking to the burn center by ambulance. A third person suffered lesser burns to their hands and chest and was driven to the hospital by family members.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the incident happened around 1am Saturday. First responders from the Germantown Fire Department were initially sent to the McDonalds on County Line Road. The incident happened at a nearby home on Kings Way.
The siding and patio of the home suffered some damage. Germantown police have taken over the investigation.
The circumstances to the gas being thrown onto the fire pit have not been made public.
