DODGE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – Police say a Menasha woman led officers on a high-speed chase through three counties Sunday evening.
It all started when the Neenah Police Department got a report that a white GMC pickup truck had been stolen from an area campground.
Minutes later, the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department heard that same truck sideswiped another vehicle on southbound Interstate 41 near Highway 26. A Wisconsin State Patrol trooper told officials that he was behind the truck in Fond du Lac County.
The trooper attempted to stop the truck, but the 28-year-old woman moved over to the right shoulder and kept passing other vehicles.
Sheriff’s deputies in Fond du Lac County tried deflating the tires three times but she managed to avoid them and sped up to 100 miles per hour.
Additional troopers and deputies continued in the chase until the woman reached Dodge County.
Dodge County deputies tried to stop the vehicle using tire-deflation devices but the woman avoided the strips. Officials go on to say the tire on the driver’s vehicle disintegrated but it’s unclear why.
The car managed to travel several miles while going around 80 miles per hour on its rims.
Authorities say the vehicle ran off the highway, hit a sign and spun out of control across the southbound lanes. She was flown to a hospital in Oconomowoc because of her injuries.
Officials are not releasing the name of the woman at this time but they say she had 2 warrants from 2 counties
No other injuries were reported.
