ASHWAUBENON, WI (WTAQ) – Vice presidential candidates, Indiana Governor Mike Pence and Virginia Senator Tim Kaine, meet up Tuesday night for the first debate of its kind.
The pair will take the stage at Longwood University in Farmville, Virginia.
So what’s Northeast Wisconsin saying about the match up and will they be tuning in?
Emily Eckert of De Pere says she won’t be home to watch the debate but will set her DVR.
“I almost think it’s more important to watch the vice presidential debate in case they would have to take over for the president in any kind of unfortunate situation.”
Green Bay resident, Tammy Teller, says she looks forward to the debate and getting to know the candidates.
“Yeah, I feel that’s the only time we get to see the actual “them” and not less scripted.”
Some folks don’t have the same sentiment. Dave Kruse of Green Bay says the debate does not interest him.
“No, I will not be watching. I really don’t have any concern with it. There’s a lesser of two evils here, and unfortunately we don’t have much say in who that’s going to be. They say we do, but we don’t.”
Damien Doran felt the same way.
“I will not be watching. Just not interested. I have no clue who the vice presidential candidates are.”
The debate will air at 8 p.m. on WTAQ as well as other major networks.
The next presidential debate is scheduled for October 9th.
