MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) The Milwaukee Mercy Choir is getting ready to perform for Pope Francis. The choir left Wisconsin Monday for Rome, and will join other choirs on Sunday during the Closing of the Holy Door ceremony at the Vatican.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports the ceremony will close the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy, opened by Pope Francis last December. They’ll take part in mass in the Papal Mass on Sunday.
The choir has 53 members from 14 churches in the Milwaukee area.
The choir will be away for nine days, and will return home next Tuesday.
