St. Norbert College settled for a split in a Midwest Conference North Division doubleheader with Carroll University, winning the opener 5-2 before dropping the nightcap 7-4 at Larry Van Alstine Field at Mel Nicks Sports Complex in De Pere.The Green Knights (15-11, 8-5 MWC North) rode starting pitcher Jake McMahon to the win in the opener. McMahon allowed just six hits and one earned run while walking only one and striking out 10 to earn the win.Tied 1-1, the Green Knights took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning on a Griffin Jack single to drive in Adam Enwiya.The Green Knights pulled away with three runs in the seventh inning. Tyler Banovich drove in two runs on a single and came around to score on an infield error to give St. Norbert a 5-1 lead.Banovich was three-for-four with two runs scored and two RBI. Jack was three-for-four, while Sean Grant was two-for-four and Derek Klegin two-for-five.In the nightcap, the Green Knights fell behind 3-0 after two innings and couldn’t get back into the game. St. Norbert scored a single run in the fourth inning on a bases-loaded walk by Jason Malkowski, but the Green Knights would leave the bases loaded. Carroll answered with one run in the fifth inning and two in the sixth inning to take a 6-1 lead.Blake Rutherford took the loss, allowing eight hits and four runs in 4 2/3 innings.
