OSHKOSH, WI (WTAQ) – An investigation into last summer’s plane crash at EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh has been completed.
According to the National Transportation Safety Board, the cause of the small plane crash was pilot error.
The single-engine Piper Malibu plane crashed while trying to land on a runway at Wittman Regional Airport on July 22.
The NTSB writes:
“The pilot’s failure to perform a go-around after receiving a modified landing clearance and his failure to maintain adequate airspeed while maneuvering to land resulted in the airplane exceeding its critical angle of attack in a steep bank and entering an accelerated stall at a low altitude.”
All five people on board the plane were injured, along with a bystander.
