UNDATED (WTAQ) – A Green Bay native who died in the attack on Pearl Harbor, whose remains were recently identified, has been finally laid to rest.
Machinist’s Mate 1st Class Vernon T. Luke was serving on the USS Oklahoma when the Japanese attack happened on Dec. 7, 1941.
A funeral took place near Pearl Harbor in Hawaii on Wednesday.
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker ordered all U.S. and state flags to be at half-staff Wednesday in honor of Luke. They were already at half-staff in honor of former first lady Nancy Reagan.
