MILWAUKEE, WI (WTAQ) – A Racine man is facing federal charges for allegedly selling phony tickets on Craigslist to NHL, MLB, NBA, college football, and World Series games.
Thirty-six-year-old Nicholas Spranger is also accused of forging notes from doctors to say he had cancer to try to avoid prosecution.
He used 14 email accounts for the fake ticket sales, and required payment through PayPal or Western Union.
Authorities say he would then make up several reasons why the tickets hadn’t arrived.
