(WNFL) – The Milwaukee Brewers scored one run in the fitth and two in the sixth to rally for a 5-3 win over the Washington Nationals on Friday at Miller Park in Milwaukee.
The Brewers had taken a 2-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run single by Aaron Hill.
After Washington scored three times in the third, the Brewers tied the game in the fifth on Keon Broxton’s home run and then took the lead in the sixth on a two-run blast by Kirk Nieuwenhuis.
Zach Davies pitched the first five innings and while he allowed three runs, Davies struck out a career high nine batters.
Carlos Torres pitched the sixth inning and got credit for the win. Jeremy Jeffress pitch a scoreless ninth to earn his 20th save.
The Brewers and Nationals play game two of the three-game series at Miller Park Saturday afternoon.
