MILWAUKEE, Wis (MetroSource) There could soon be a dramatic drop in the number of Milwaukee police officers if all who are eligible to retire do so by the end of next year.
The “Milwaukee Journal Sentinel” reports 339 officers, or about 20-percent of the force, will be able to retire in the next 18 months.
Mayor Tom Barrett says he’s aware of the issue and is anticipating hiring more officers. He added the city might not be able to add officers above and beyond the number who step away.
