MILWAUKEE (MetroSource-WSAU) – The Bucks are giving back. The team launched their first charitable foundation yesterday. The Milwaukee Bucks Foundation will focus on youth education and wellness and health and community development.
“Our entire organization is committed to making a difference in the community and we understand the responsibility we have to give back,” Bucks co-owner Jamie Dinan said. “We often talk about being champions on the court, but we strive just as hard to be champions for change in the community as well. There are so many great programs and initiatives working to make a difference that can benefit from our team’s involvement and resources. We look forward to building innovative community partnerships through the Milwaukee Bucks Foundation that will improve the quality of live for youth and families throughout Wisconsin.”
The group acted quickly by awarding $75,000 worth of grant money to three organizations. The money went to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, MKE Plays, and the Penfield Childrens Center.
The Bucks also announced a new employee volunteer program called the “Volun-Deers” – where team front-office staff are involved to give their time to community programs. The team says each employee will get the equivalent of 16-hours off for community service work.
