UNDATED (WTAQ) – Expect to see increased law enforcement around Northeast Wisconsin Thursday as the State Patrol debuts “Blue Day.”
It’s a day where they will focus on the safety of motorists.
Lt. Ryan Chaffee says they will look for a variety of violations as summer tends to be the most deadly driving season.
“Speeding violations, safety belt violations, distracted driving, intoxicated driving, following too closely, those types of things that we are seeing as contributing factors in these injury and fatality crashes.”
There will be increased enforcement in 11 counties including Brown, Calumet, Door, Fond du Lac, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Oconto, Outagamie, Sheboygan and Winnebago.
“We’re going to have an aircraft up Thursday patrolling over I-41 in Outagamie County. That will take place, I believe, from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m,” says Chaffee.
Officials hope that this day will help them reach their goal of having zero deaths on Wisconsin roads throughout the year.
They hope to have another “Blue Day” in the upcoming months.
