Wisconsin native begins play at Australian Open

WNFL (Melbourne, Australia)  –  Milwaukee native Tim Smyczek opens play at the Australian Open in Melbourne tonight. Smyczek faces Daniel Gimeno-Traver of Spain in a match that’s expected to begin Tuesday afternoon in Melbourne, which is 17 hours ahead of Wisconsin time. The 28-year-old Smyczek is ranked 108th in the world and playing in his fourth Australian Open. He made it to the second round in both 2013 and 2015.
