MADISON, WI (WTAQ) – The state will do more to cope with the growing challenges of dementia among its elderly population, under a series of bills passed by the Assembly Thursday.
The dementia package was created by a bipartisan Task Force on Alzheimer’s and Dementia.
The bills approved by the Assembly and sent to the Senate Thursday one providing $1 million for additional respite care programs for those who care for Alzheimer’s patients; one setting aside about $600,000 over two years for additional mental health care programs; and one providing an additional $250,000 each year in grants for local crisis teams dealing with dementia.
