The Green Bay Phoenix haven’t lost back to back games since starting the season at 0-3 and they needed to hang on at Callihan Hall Thursday night to beat the Detroit Titans 86-85. Charles Cooper went off for a career high 27 points on 10 of 12 shooting from the floor. Playing with the lead most of the night, the Phoenix held off a late Titan rally as they closed to within two points. Cooper was able to steal a defensive rebound away from Detroit and tapped the ball to Jordon Fouse who got fouled and made two free throws with :02 to play. Detroit banked in a long three at the buzzer for the final margin. Fouse put up his 8th double-double of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds to go along with four blocked shots and three steals. He’s six steals away from the Horizon League career record. Kenneth Lowe chipped in with 11 points. Green Bay has alternated wins and losses for the last 12 games. They stand at 15-10 overall, 7-5 in the Horizon. They’ll play their final road conference game of the year Saturday afternoon at Oakland.
