MAPLE GROVE, MN (WTAQ) – Two Minnesota men are charged with felonies for selling a Wisconsin beer that’s not licensed in the Gopher State.
37-year-old Brandon Hlavka and 28-year-old David Lantos are due in court March 2nd, after undercover investigators said they were served Spotted Cow of New Glarus at the Maple Tavern in Maple Grove, Minnesota.
The two defendants are the bar’s former owner and manager, and the tavern says its current ownership had nothing to do with this.
Hennepin County Attorney Mike Freeman says it’s not the most serious crime, but businesses must follow the laws to ensure fair competition and safe products.
Officials say the Spotted Cow was bought in Hudson, and the brewery says it has to limit its distribution so it can keep up with the demand from within Wisconsin.
