RACINE COUNTY, WI (WTAQ) – Authorities urge folks to be careful on the ice, after four people were taken to hospitals from three lake accidents during a mild weekend in Racine County.
With highs in the 40s, volunteer firefighters rescued 3 men after their six-wheeled vehicle fell in 3-feet of water at a bay on Tichigan Lake near Waterford. One man escaped injury, while two others were treated at a Waukesha hospital for bruises and cold water exposure.
The other two injuries occurred in separate ATV accidents on Eagle Lake near Kansasville, both involving riders whose vehicles overturned.
Officials say one of them was heading to an ice fishing hole, while the other was a recreational rider who slid and hit an obstruction before rolling over — and that driver was cited for riding drunk.
