GREEN BAY, WI (WSAU) Five weeks ago the Packers were languishing below .500 when Aaron Rodgers said he thought the team could run the table, win its final six games, and make the playoffs.
Five down. One to go.
Rodgers threw for 347 yards and four touchdowns in a convincing 38-25 win over the fast-fading Minnesota Vikings. With the loss, the Vikes will miss the playoffs despite a 5-0 start to the season. Rodgers also ran for a touchdown in the second half, juking a Vikings defender near the goal line and celebrating with a Lambeau leap. His quarterback rating was 136.
Jordy Nelson tallied 154 yards and two touchdown catches.
The Packers will travel to Detroit next week for a winner-take-all game against the Lions. The winner of that week 17 match-up will be the NFC North champion regardless of what the Lions do in their Monday night game against Dallas.
”We’re planning on going to Detroit to win the division,” coach Mike McCarthy said after the win. The Packers, now 9-6, could still make the playoffs as a wildcard team if they lose next week. The Packers cashed in on two Vikings turnovers in the second quarter with 14 points. The Packers did not turn the ball over.
