GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The cold weather is taking its toll on the Salvation Army of Greater Green Bay’s Red Kettle Campaign this year and they’re asking for the public’s help.
Spokesperson Kathryn Kroll says they need around $200,000 by Saturday but are staying positive.
“We know how generous this community can be so we’re trying to stay optimistic. Really what it comes down to, is making sure we have those bell ringing shifts staffed.”
Red kettle donations make up around 38 percent, or $375,000 dollars, of their Christmas Campaign goal of $1 million dollars.
So what happens if they don’t make their kettle goal? Kroll says they’re making up for some of the losses through other special events.
“You know we had Aaron Rodgers signing for us. That was a $21,000 night and then he’s going to match that. So, that $42,000 that we didn’t really anticipate receiving at the beginning of this Christmas campaign. Some of the other areas we’ve had some pretty nice increases over what we were anticipating,” said Kroll.
Kroll asks the public to sign up to be a bell ringer, even if it’s only for an hour.
