MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) The memory of Rosa Parks is being honored on all Milwaukee County Transit System buses today. Every bus will have a seat reserved in honor of Parks on the 61st anniversary of her famous arrest for not giving up her seat to a white man on an Alabama bus.
Every MCTS bus has a picture of Parks attached to one seat. Underneath her photograph is her quote, “My only concern was to get home after a hard day’s work.”
Parks’ refusal to give up her seat on December 1st, 1955, started the Montgomery bus boycott – a key point in the civil rights movement that led to court rulings ending segregation.
